The Montblanc is a classic French confection known for its elegant appearance and rich, chestnut-based flavor. This dessert is most notably associated with the Mont Blanc mountain in the Alps, with its resemblance to the snow-covered peaks inspiring its name.
Created in the late 19th century during a period when chestnuts were a prominent ingredient in European sweets- it is said to have been first crafted in the region of the French Alps. There are claims that it was originally a specialty of the town of Cagnes-sur-Mer.

Some historians attribute its creation to the famous French patissier, Sylvain Claudius, who experimented with chestnuts and named the dessert after Mont Blanc to evoke the imagery of snow-capped mountains.
Composed of a base layer of meringue or a light pastry shell, topped with a mountain-like heap of chestnut puree, it is often sweetened with sugar and flavored with vanilla, and sometimes variations are mixed with rum or local liquors for depth of flavor.
