Godrej Food Trends Report 2026 x mr NObody

For centuries, tea has been woven into the fabric of Indian life. It greets us at railway stations, fuels conversations in bustling markets, punctuates office breaks and accompanies quiet moments at home. Yet, despite being one of the world’s largest producers and consumers of tea, India has largely viewed tea as a habit rather than an experience.

I believe that is beginning to change.

As I noted in the #GodrejFoodTrendsReport2026  tea is poised to evolve from a comfort ritual into a wellness-driven, flavour-forward lifestyle category.

The rise of functional wellness teas, cold brews and sparkling tea formats reflects a consumer who is increasingly conscious of health, low-sugar alternatives and purposeful consumption.

Ingredients such as tulsi, ashwagandha, turmeric and chamomile are no longer niche additions; they are becoming part of a broader movement where beverages are expected to nourish, restore and energise.

Yet, beyond wellness lies an even more compelling opportunity.

India is uniquely positioned to become one of the world’s most exciting tea destinations. From the mist-covered slopes of Darjeeling and the expansive estates of Assam to the emerging tea-growing regions quietly shaping their own identities, every cup tells a story of geography, climate, craftsmanship and culture.

Tea possesses something modern consumers increasingly crave: Provenance.

We are entering an era where people want to know not just what they are consuming, but where it came from, who produced it and why it matters.

The same curiosity that transformed wine, specialty coffee and craft chocolate into cultural experiences is now finding its way into tea.

Consumers are seeking authenticity, terroir and human stories. They want connection. All and more in this years Report.

Thank you @rushinamg for putting this together so effortlessly and having me be a part of the contribution for another year running. 珞
